The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
