The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
