The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
