The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
