The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
