The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
