The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
