The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
