Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And no trifle. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
