The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
