The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Almighty God's Truth.
