The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
