The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
