The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
