The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
