The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
