The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
