The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
