The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
