The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
