The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 That this is a decisive word 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
