The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
