The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
