The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By heaven and the night-star! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
