The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
