The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
