The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
