Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
