The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
