Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By heaven and the night-star! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
