The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
