The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
