The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
