The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
