The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
