The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is no joke. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
