Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
