The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and so am I: 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
