The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
