The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
