The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of spurting water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
