The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
