The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
