Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
