The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
