The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
