The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
