The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And no trifle. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
