The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
