The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
