The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
